WAO Gallery & Cultural Center located in Altos de Chavón will open the exhibition “The Garden of Wishes” by the artist Ónice Mejía.

 

On this occasion, Ónice presents us with a series of paintings in mixed media, sculptures, and installations. Her inspiration is the nature in the artist inhabits, where the seed is the presentation of both essential continuity and the contradiction between adaptation and transformation. Fantastic fruits and seeds in a dream garden where nature does a dance of light and shadows.

The Garden of Wishes evokes a walk through a forest full of elements and seasons, where we will find rain, wind, fire, water, earth and crying, laughter, day and night, pleasures, fertility, dreams, the sea, passion and death, inspiration, hate and life and that obscure object of the artist’s desires.

 

A total of 18 pieces will make us live a sensory, conceptual and personal experience that will cause us to break everyday thinking, inciting our most primitive instinct to touch to understand.

 

The exhibition will remain open from November 25 to December 26, 2022, from Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., closed Monday.

About the artist:

Ónice Mejía is a graduate of Fine Arts from Chavón La Escuela de Diseño, and has 27 years of experience she has been nominated twice for the National Youth Award, in the Art and Culture category, and obtained a special mention in the National Competition of Young Painting.

 

He has participated in collective and individual exhibitions such as “El Sueño Iluminado”, at the Cultural Center of Spain; “Transición de Luz”, “7 women mothers and artists”, “Woman in Love” and One Day at a Time, at the Altos de Chavón Gallery.

 

The plastic artist has also exhibited at the Santo Domingo Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Arts in the Bronx in New York, and the House of Culture in the city of Miami. His work is in private collections in Spain, Puerto Rico, the USA, France and England.
