As a former student of the Altos de Chavón School of Art and Design, it was a dream come true for Onice Mejía to return to Altos de Chavón presenting her own art exhibition “Atemporal… como los sueños”, which opened last Thursday the 17th of October at The Gallery.
The opening was the usual mix of the Casa de Campo art-loving community, and students of the Altos de Chavón school, who on this occasion mingled with numerous former students, classmates and friends of Onice who turned out to support the opening of her exhibition.
As a Fine Arts graduate of the Chavón school, Onicé (and her exhibit) served as a great source of inspiration for the young students. It was a great opportunity to showcase where and what these talented artists can do with their Chavón education. Taking part in the opening, Onicé spent the evening talking and posing for photos, while also taking a little time to talk (and inspire!) the students, many of whom have only just embarked upon their 2-year journey at the school.
With her background in fine arts, “Atemporal…como los sueños”, is a still-life collection of art works featuring the reposing form of women – typical to Onicé’s style. “I am inspired by my womanhood, my humanity, everyday life, dreams and desires, as well as the ability to convey my own feelings and emotions through my art,” Onicé told Casa de Campo Living.

“Atemporal…como los sueños” will remain open until November 11th. The Gallery is opened daily from 9:00am to 6:00pm, closed Wednesdays.
About The Artist:
Onice Mejía Onice Mejia is a mother and artist from La Romana. She first studied art with artist Nilsa de la Cruz, who she defines as an amazing and outstanding teacher and artist. Later she decided to attend a Summer Art Course at Altos de Chavón with Raul Santos as the teacher. Years later she then attended the Altos de Chavón School of Art and Design to study art and illustration. In her paintings we can appreciate the use of shades created by light and her amazing techniques that take illustration to another level
